West Indies Women take scintillating win over Bangladesh Women at ICC Women's Cricket World Cup

Tauranga, New Zealand- West Indies Women defeated a spirited Bangladesh Women by 4 runs to earn two valuable points from their clash at Bay Oval in Tauranga.
Being sent into bat first, West Indies women suffered a batting collapse, but a valiant 53 off 107 balls from Shemaine Campbelle allowed them to post 140/9 from their 50 overs. Bowling for Bangladesh, Salma Khatun and Nahida Akter finished with the exact figures of 10-3-23-2.
25 runs each from Nigar Sultana and Nahida Akter took Bangladesh to 136 all out in 49.3 overs. Hayley Matthews finished with ODI career best figures of 4/15. Afy Fletcher playing in her first match of the tournament, took 3/29 while skipper Stafanie Taylor also took 3/29.
Speaking after the match, Hayley Matthews said, "Everyone would pretty much know we didn't get enough runs on the board, we definitely need to be doing better in that aspect. At the innings break, looking at the wicket and knowing it was quite slow and was holding a bit of turn in it. We knew we could have gone out there and defended the runs once we bowled in the right areas. We managed to that quite well but at the same time we definitely need to do much better with the bat if we are going to have any chance at this World Cup."
West Indies Women will travel to Hamilton where they will take on Pakistan at Seddon Park on March 21 in a day/night encounter. First ball is at 2:00pm (March 20, 9:00pm Eastern Caribbean Time/ 8:00pm Jamaica Time).
